V. GOLDEN BAKLAVA FILM FESTIVAL AWARDS

Golden Baklava Film Academy V. International Student Film Festival Gala and Award Ceremony was held with a magnificent night at Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU). The awards were given at the gala night, celebrated with giant jury members and famous names.
“HKU RADIO IS OPENED”
GHKÜ Radio, which was established with the attempts of HKU Faculty of Communication and its students, opened before the gala night and the award ceremony. At the opening of HKÜ Radio, which will broadcast in Gaziantep on frequency 106.8, the members of the protocol made the opening speech accompanied by RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin.

The opening speeches of the Gala Night and Award Ceremony that started in HKU Congress and Culture Center; Gaziantep Governor Davut Gül, Gaziantep Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin, RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin, Rector of Sofia National Academy For Theater And Film Arts and Vice President of the Association of World Cinema Schools. Dr. Stanislav Semerdjiev, Deputy Chairman of the HKÜ Board of Trustees Haluk Kalyoncu and HKÜ Rector. Dr. Edibe Sözen did it.
“OVER 200 FILM APPLICATIONS FROM 24 COUNTRIES”
HKÜ Board of Trustees V. Haluk Kalyoncu stated that the aim of the festival was organized to contribute to young producers to produce new films and to discover new talents. He added, “By making an effort in a difficult field such as cinema, the movies, which are prepared with an amateur spirit, are going to come out from the ambitious ones of today. We are hopeful to have talents like Osman Sınav, or Clint Eastwood. We are here to support their recognition on national and international platforms. This year, more than 200 short film applications from documentary and fiction categories from 24 countries, from Kayseri University, Erzurum Atatürk University, Mimar Sinan University, Notre Damme University, Saint Petersburg University, Azerbaijan University, Beirut University students, have moved Golden Baklava Film Academy to a very different point."
“PARTICIPATION FROM WIDE GEOGRAPHY INCLUDING EUROPEAN COUNTRIES”
HKU Rector, Prof. Dr. Edibe Sözen, expressed that they have been organizing the festival for five years with great enthusiasm and excitement. She added, “This year, we have transformed our festival into an international one with the arrangement we made in the film application specifications. Films came from wide geography extending from China, the USA, Singapore, Lebanon, Argentina, especially to European countries. To be honest, a surprising number of applications have been made. Thanks to everyone who contributed.”
AN INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL WITH FAMOUS JURY STAFF
11 films in the "Fiction" and "Documentary" categories were awarded at the 5th Golden Baklava Film Festival. Famous jury members marked the night which is held by HKU for the fifth time this year and became a tradition in Gaziantep and the awards of the festival were distributed. Famous director and screenwriter Osman Sınav was the jury president for the 5th Golden Baklava Film Festival and famous actors including Kerem Alışık, Cansel Elçin and İrem Helvacıoğlu were in the jury. Before the premiere night and the prize ceremony, the actor Cansel Elçin delivered a single performance named " Reading Albert Camus” and interviews with Kerem Alışık, İrem Helvacıoğlu and Ebru Şahin were carried out. Another interview with the producer and cast of Turkish TV series named “My Name is Angel” (Benim Adım Melek) broadcasted on TRT was carried out at Golden Baklava Film Festival.
AWARDS WERE GIVEN IN “FICTION” AND “DOCUMENTARY” CATEGORIES
In the fictional films category of the 5th Golden Baklava Film Festival, Ayat Bakayeva's film named "Three" won the grand prize, "Hashtag" directed by Ensar Özyurt came in second, and "A Moment of Love" directed by Julian Rachev came in third. In the documentary category, director Uğur Ersöz received the grand prize with the film "Flying Man"( Uçan Adam), director Peyami Sefa Altıntaş received the second prize with his film "Life Watch" (Hayat Nöbeti) and director Melih Başal third prize with the film "Women of the Land"(Toprağın Kadınları).
SADRI ALISIK AND HASAN KALYONCU SPECIAL AWARDS
At the Golden Baklava Film Academy V. International Student Film Festival, Sadri Alışık and Hasan Kalyoncu Special Awards marked the premiere. Sadri Alışık Special Award was given to the director Indy Khawe by Kerem Alışık for the movie "Moo”. The owner of the Hasan Kalyoncu special award was director Yiğit Can Çaylı with his movie “İnci Anne”.
Jury Special Award in fictional fims category was given to director David Jovanovic for the movie “Many Happy Returns”, while Jury Special Award in documentary category was given to director Ivaylo Georgiev for the movie “Purification”. In the fictional films category, Edwin Beano, the director of the film “Reflections” and Bogdan Maraloi, the director of the movie "Wilkommen" won honourable mention. In documentary films category, director Beatrice Aline won honourable mention with the movie "Absence of Light".
