The entire Northern Aegean Highway (Menemen-Aliağa-Çandarlı Highway), whose foundation was laid on April 5th, 2017 in accordance with 2023 targets of Turkey, significantly reducing transportation distances to the most important marine trade, industrial and tourism centers of the region was opened with the ceremony arranged on February 22nd Saturday by the attendance of the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Mehmet Cahit Turhan, General Manager of Highways Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Kalyon Holding Board Chairman Cemal Kalyoncu and IC Holding Board Chairman İbrahim Çeçen also attended the ceremony.
Northern Aegean Highway, which came to life by co-investments of IC Holding and Kalyon Holding providing added value to Turkey with the investments they made in all sectors that are engaged in, is located totally on 96 km length as 56km is highway and 40km is connection roads. There totally 19 crossroads, 1 tunnel, 7 toll collection areas, 3 highway service facilities, 8 viaducts and 38 bridges within the scope of the project consisting of totally 6 lanes as 3 lanes are for going and 3 lanes are for coming.
192 cameras, 26 variable message signs, 34 variable traffic signs, 21 traffic counting sensors, Scada tunnels/highway safety data are monitored from a single center and fast reactions are given against emergency cases all along highway route by means of the technology in Northern Aegean Highway equipped with Smart Transportation Systems on the purpose of providing safety of traffic and highway users. 7/24 uninterrupted services are provided by 32 exit and 224 entry facilities in 7 stations equipped with the latest modern technology in Northern Aegean Highway.
