The project aiming at relieving Izmir city traffic and bringing modern image to Izmir will work in cooperation with light rail transport, high-speed train and ports and will complete environmentally friendly transportation network.Rescue excavations start in order to rescue cultural assets included in Neon Teikhos Ancient City revealed during building and 432 ancient tombs, royal roads, architectural ruins and monumental structures are revealed in the studies. The section of royal road found intersecting with highway is removed by using scientific methods. This ancient road will be reconstructed in accordance with original one over the steel bridge built after highway construction is completed. This project, which may be named as intersection of history and modernism, is the first and only application example in the world.
